Nasal tip surgery
Tip Plasty in Gangnam, Seoul
refined, never pinched.
Tip plasty reshapes only the lower third of the nose to make a round, broad or droopy tip look defined and well supported. At ONYX in Gangnam, Seoul, Dr. Yoo plans every tip around the cartilage that holds it up, so the result stays stable as swelling settles.

What is tip plasty, and who is it for?
Tip plasty (nasal tip rhinoplasty) is surgery on the cartilages and soft tissue of the nasal tip. It refines a bulbous or wide tip, adds projection to a low tip, or lifts a drooping tip without changing the bridge.
It suits people who like their bridge but not their tip. When the tip needs more support than reshaping alone can give, a small graft of your own septal or ear cartilage is usually added.
| Surgery time | About 1–1.5 hours |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | Sedation or general anaesthesia |
| Approach | Closed or open, depending on the tip |
| Splint & stitches | Removed after about 5–7 days |
| Stay in Seoul | About 7 days |
| Final result | 6–12 months (the tip settles last) |
Good candidates for tip plasty
- Round, bulbous or boxy nasal tip
- Low tip that lacks projection
- Tip that droops, especially when you smile
- Wide tip with soft cartilage
- A bridge you are happy with, but a tip you are not
Thick skin limits how much definition shows through. Dr. Yoo will explain honestly what is achievable for your skin type.

How tip plasty is performed at ONYX
- STEP 01
Assess
3D CT and photos measure tip projection, rotation and skin thickness.
- STEP 02
Reshape
The tip cartilages are trimmed or sutured to narrow and define the tip.
- STEP 03
Support
A septal extension or columellar strut graft from your own cartilage holds the new position.
- STEP 04
Protect
Incisions are closed and a light splint is applied for about a week.
Tip plasty or full rhinoplasty?
If more than the tip bothers you, a full rhinoplasty may suit you better.
| Tip plasty | Full rhinoplasty | |
|---|---|---|
| Area treated | Nasal tip only | Bridge, tip and often the base |
| Surgery time | About 1–1.5 hours | About 2–3 hours |
| Bone work | None | Sometimes (hump or narrowing) |
| Bruising | Usually mild | More likely around the eyes |
| Best when | The bridge already suits your face | Several areas need correction |
Tip plasty recovery, week by week
Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.
- Day 1–3 Swelling around the tip and upper lip; the nose may feel blocked.
- Day 5–7 Splint and stitches removed. Most patients are comfortable going out.
- Week 2–4 Visible swelling drops; the tip still feels firm.
- Month 3 The tip looks natural to others.
- Month 6–12 Final definition appears, especially with thicker skin.
Tip Plasty in Seoul: your questions answered.
Is tip plasty enough on its own?
If your bridge already suits your face, yes. If the bridge is low or has a hump, combining tip plasty with bridge work usually gives a more balanced result.
Will my tip drop again over time?
A tip that is only reshaped with stitches can relax. ONYX adds cartilage support where needed so the tip keeps its position long term.
Does tip plasty leave a scar?
A closed approach leaves no visible scar. An open approach leaves a small line under the nose that usually fades well.
How long should I stay in Seoul for tip plasty?
Plan for about 7 days, so the splint and stitches can be removed at your one-week check before you fly home.
Can I get an opinion before travelling?
Yes. Send front, side and 45° photos on WhatsApp and Dr. Yoo will give a preliminary opinion in English.
