Nose tip concern
Over-Projected Nose Tip Correction in Gangnam, Seoul
brought back into balance.
An over-projected nose tip sticks out too far from the face, so the nose dominates the profile. At ONYX in Gangnam, Seoul, Dr. Yoo carefully de-projects the tip and rebalances the support so the nose sits in proportion with your lips and chin.

What is an over-projected nose tip?
An over-projected nose tip extends further from the face than suits the length of the nose. It can be natural, caused by long tip cartilages, or the result of an over-built tip in a previous surgery.
Correction shortens or repositions the tip cartilages and, in revision cases, reduces grafts that were made too large, while keeping enough support for a stable, natural tip.
| Surgery time | About 1.5–2.5 hours |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | General anaesthesia |
| Approach | Open or closed, depending on the tip |
| Splint & stitches | Removed after about 7 days |
| Stay in Seoul | About 7–10 days |
| Final result | 6–12 months (the tip settles last) |
Signs you may relate to
- Your tip sticks out further than you would like
- Your nose dominates your profile
- The tip looks pointed or beak-like
- A previous surgery made the tip too high
- The nose looks large even though the bridge is straight
Nose and chin are judged together. A small chin can make the tip look more projected than it really is.

How an over-projected tip is reduced
- STEP 01
Measure
Tip projection is compared with nose length, lips and chin.
- STEP 02
Reposition
Tip cartilages are shortened or set back in a controlled way.
- STEP 03
Rebalance
Over-sized grafts from previous surgery are reduced if present.
- STEP 04
Support
The new position is stabilised so the tip does not collapse.
Over-projected tip recovery
Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.
- Day 1–3 Swelling and some bruising; the tip feels firm and numb.
- Day 7 Splint and stitches removed; most patients are cleared to fly after this check.
- Week 2–4 Visible swelling fades and daily routines resume.
- Month 1–3 The tip still feels firm; avoid pressure, heavy glasses and impact.
- Month 6–12 Tip definition fully settles, especially with thicker skin.
Over-Projected Nose Tip in Seoul: your questions answered.
Can an over-projected tip be reduced without making it droop?
Yes. De-projection is done in a controlled way and the tip is re-supported at the right angle.
Do I need a chin procedure too?
Sometimes. If the chin is small, Dr. Yoo will explain how it affects your profile, but your nose plan is designed on its own merits.
Is this common after previous rhinoplasty?
Yes, an over-built tip is a recognised revision problem.
Will my nostrils change shape?
Reducing projection can widen the nostrils slightly, so the base is checked and adjusted if needed.
When will I see the final result?
Most change is visible within months, with final settling up to a year.
