a line that looks like yours.
If you can see the edges or outline of a nose implant, especially under bright light or as skin thins with time, the result no longer looks natural. At ONYX in Gangnam, Seoul, Dr. Yoo replaces or removes the implant and uses your own cartilage or soft tissue to restore a smooth, natural line.

Why can I see my nose implant?
A nose implant becomes visible when the overlying skin is thin, the implant is too high or too wide, its edges are sharp, or it has shifted. Skin over an implant can also thin gradually over years.
Correction depends on the cause: the implant can be replaced with a better-carved one, covered with fascia or soft tissue, or removed and the bridge rebuilt with your own cartilage.
| Surgery time | About 3–4 hours |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | General anaesthesia |
| Approach | Usually open |
| Grafts | Septal, ear or rib cartilage |
| Stay in Seoul | About 7–10 days, sometimes longer |
| Final result | About 12 months |
Signs you may relate to
- You can see the edges of the implant on your bridge
- The bridge looks shiny or too sharp in light
- The implant outline is clearer than before
- The bridge looks too high for your face
- The skin over the bridge feels thin
Redness or very thin skin over an implant can be an early warning sign. Contact a surgeon promptly if you notice it.

How a visible implant is corrected
- STEP 01
Assess skin and implant
Skin thickness and implant position are checked with CT and examination.
- STEP 02
Remove or replace
The implant is removed or exchanged for one carved to your face.
- STEP 03
Add coverage
Fascia or soft tissue thickens the cover over the bridge.
- STEP 04
Rebuild if needed
Cartilage restores the bridge when an implant is not used.
Implant revision recovery
Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.
- Day 1–3 Swelling and discomfort, controlled with medication; the chest site is sore if rib cartilage was used.
- Day 7 Splint and stitches removed and the wound checked.
- Week 2–4 Bruising fades; swelling is still clearly present.
- Month 3–6 Scar tissue softens and the new shape becomes clearer.
- Month 12 The final result of revision surgery settles.
Visible Implant Outline in Seoul: your questions answered.
Do I have to remove my implant?
Not always. A better-fitting implant with added soft-tissue cover can work if the skin is healthy.
Can my own cartilage replace an implant?
Yes. Diced or solid cartilage can rebuild the bridge without an implant.
Is it urgent?
A visible outline alone is not an emergency, but redness, thinning or pain should be checked soon.
How long after my first surgery can I have revision?
Usually after about a year, unless there is a problem that needs earlier treatment.
Will my nose look flat after removal?
Not if the bridge is rebuilt at the same time; Dr. Yoo plans the new height before surgery.
