What is a pinched nose tip?
A pinched nose tip is too narrow or collapsed at the sides, with visible indentations between the tip and nostrils. It most often follows a previous rhinoplasty where too much tip cartilage was removed.
Correction rebuilds the sides of the tip with cartilage grafts, such as lateral crural or alar rim grafts, which restores contour and can also reopen the nasal valve for better airflow.

How a pinched tip is restored
- STEP 01
Evaluate
The remaining cartilage and scar tissue are assessed with 3D CT and examination.
- STEP 02
Release
Scar tissue is released and the tip cartilages are freed.
- STEP 03
Rebuild
Lateral crural or rim grafts restore the missing side walls.
- STEP 04
Support
The tip is stabilised so the new contour and airflow last.
Pinched tip correction recovery
Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.
- Day 1–3 Swelling and discomfort, controlled with medication; the chest site is sore if rib cartilage was used.
- Day 7 Splint and stitches removed and the wound checked.
- Week 2–4 Bruising fades; swelling is still clearly present.
- Month 3–6 Scar tissue softens and the new shape becomes clearer.
- Month 12 The final result of revision surgery settles.
Pinched Nose Tip in Seoul: your questions answered.
Why does a tip become pinched?
Most often too much cartilage was removed in a previous surgery, or the tip lost support as it healed.
Will my breathing improve?
If the sides of the tip collapse when you breathe in, rebuilding them often improves airflow.
Which cartilage is used?
Septal or ear cartilage is used when available; rib cartilage is used when more strength is needed.
How long should I wait after my first surgery?
Revision is usually planned at least a year after the previous operation, once tissues have settled.
Will the tip look natural?
The goal is a soft, natural contour without grooves or shadows.
