Nose lengthening surgery
Short Nose Correction in Gangnam, Seoul
length that lasts.
Short nose correction lengthens a nose that looks short or upturned and shows too much nostril from the front. At ONYX in Gangnam, Seoul, Dr. Yoo builds a strong cartilage framework to push the tip down and forward, so the new length holds as the skin heals.

What is short nose correction?
Short nose correction is rhinoplasty that increases the length of the nose and lowers an upturned tip. A septal extension graft, usually from your own septal or rib cartilage, is fixed to the septum to reposition the tip.
It is one of the more demanding nose operations because the skin and lining resist stretching. Strong support and realistic planning are what keep the result from shortening again.
| Surgery time | About 2–3 hours |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | General anaesthesia |
| Approach | Usually open |
| Grafts | Septal, ear or rib cartilage |
| Stay in Seoul | About 7–10 days |
| Final result | 6–12 months |
Signs of a short or upturned nose
- Nostrils clearly visible from the front
- A tip that points upward ("pig nose" look)
- A nose that looks short compared with your face
- A tip pulled up after a previous surgery
- Tight skin over the tip from scarring
How much length is possible depends on your skin and lining. Dr. Yoo will set a safe, realistic goal at consultation.

How a short nose is lengthened
- STEP 01
Measure
The ideal length and tip angle are planned on 3D simulation.
- STEP 02
Release
Tight skin and lining are carefully released to allow the tip to move.
- STEP 03
Extend
A septal extension graft from your own cartilage pushes the tip down and forward.
- STEP 04
Secure
The tip cartilages are fixed to the graft and a splint protects the result.
Short nose correction recovery
Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.
- Day 1–3 Swelling and a tight feeling at the tip.
- Day 7 Splint and stitches removed.
- Week 2–4 Tightness eases; the tip still feels firm.
- Month 3 The nose looks natural to others.
- Month 6–12 The final length and tip shape settle.
Short Nose Correction in Seoul: your questions answered.
Will my nose shorten again after surgery?
Some settling is normal, which is why ONYX uses strong cartilage support. With adequate support the length is designed to hold long term.
Do I need rib cartilage for a short nose?
Not always. Septal cartilage is often enough for mild cases; rib cartilage is used when more strength or volume is needed, especially in revision.
Can a short nose be fixed with an implant alone?
No. An implant adds height to the bridge but does not lengthen the nose; lengthening needs cartilage support at the tip.
How long should I stay in Seoul?
About 7–10 days for splint removal and a check-up before flying.
Can you fix a nose shortened by a previous surgery?
Yes, this is a form of revision rhinoplasty, usually with rib or ear cartilage.
