Deviated Septum Surgery in Gangnam, Seoul
breathe better, look natural.

What is deviated septum surgery?
A deviated septum is a bend in the cartilage and bone between the nostrils that narrows one side of the airway. Surgery straightens or replaces the bent section so both sides can breathe evenly.
When the outside of the nose is also crooked or you want a cosmetic change, the septum is corrected in the same operation. This is called septorhinoplasty.
| Surgery time | About 1–2 hours (longer with rhinoplasty) |
|---|---|
| Anaesthesia | General anaesthesia |
| Incisions | Inside the nose |
| Splints | Internal splints for about 5–7 days |
| Stay in Seoul | About 7 days |
| Breathing improvement | Usually noticed after 2–4 weeks |
Symptoms of a deviated septum
- One nostril is often blocked
- Snoring or mouth breathing at night
- Frequent sinus infections or nosebleeds
- A crooked-looking nose
- Breathing that worsens with a cold
Blockage can also come from enlarged turbinates or allergies. A CT scan and examination confirm the cause before surgery.

How a deviated septum is corrected
- STEP 01
Diagnose
Examination and CT confirm where and how severely the septum is bent.
- STEP 02
Straighten
The bent cartilage and bone are trimmed, repositioned or replaced.
- STEP 03
Preserve support
An L-shaped strut of septum is kept so the bridge and tip stay supported.
- STEP 04
Reuse cartilage
Removed septal cartilage can be used as grafts for the tip if rhinoplasty is combined.
Septum surgery recovery
Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.
- Day 1–3 Congestion and mild discomfort; breathe through the mouth.
- Day 5–7 Internal splints removed; breathing starts to open up.
- Week 2–4 Crusting clears with saline rinses; airflow keeps improving.
- Month 1–3 Avoid contact sports and any impact to the nose.
Deviated Septum Surgery in Seoul: your questions answered.
Will deviated septum surgery change how my nose looks?
Not on its own. If you want a cosmetic change, it is combined with rhinoplasty in the same operation.
Is deviated septum surgery painful?
Most patients feel pressure and congestion rather than sharp pain for the first few days.
Can the septum be used for my rhinoplasty?
Yes. Cartilage removed from the deviated part is often the best graft material for the tip.
How long should I stay in Seoul?
About 7 days, so the internal splints can be removed and healing checked.
Does septum surgery fix snoring?
It can reduce snoring caused by nasal blockage, but snoring has many causes and is not always cured.
