Quick answer

Why are my nostrils so visible from the front?

Excess nostril show from the front usually means the tip is rotated upward, the nose is short, or the nostril rims are lifted (alar retraction). Large nostril openings can add to it.

Correction lowers and lengthens the tip with a septal extension graft and, if the rims are high, lowers them with rim grafts, so a natural amount of nostril remains visible.

Typical figures. Your surgeon confirms the details for your case.
Surgery time About 1.5–2.5 hours
Anaesthesia General anaesthesia
Approach Open or closed, depending on the tip
Splint & stitches Removed after about 7 days
Stay in Seoul About 7–10 days
Final result 6–12 months (the tip settles last)

Signs you may relate to

  • You can see your nostrils clearly from the front
  • Your nose looks short or upturned
  • People mention your nostrils in photos
  • The nostril rims look high
  • A previous surgery lifted the tip too much

A small amount of nostril show is normal and attractive. Hiding the nostrils completely looks unnatural.

How ONYX corrects it

How nostril show is reduced

  1. STEP 01

    Diagnose

Tip rotation, nose length and rim position are measured.

  2. STEP 02

    Lower the tip

A septal extension graft brings the tip down slightly.

  3. STEP 03

    Lower the rims

Rim grafts lower lifted nostril edges if needed.

  4. STEP 04

    Balance the openings

Large openings may be reduced for a neater base.

Recovery

Recovery

Typical timeline only. Healing varies with the procedure, skin thickness and materials used.

  1. Day 1–3 Swelling and some bruising; the tip feels firm and numb.
  2. Day 7 Splint and stitches removed; most patients are cleared to fly after this check.
  3. Week 2–4 Visible swelling fades and daily routines resume.
  4. Month 1–3 The tip still feels firm; avoid pressure, heavy glasses and impact.
  5. Month 6–12 Tip definition fully settles, especially with thicker skin.
FAQ

Visible Nostrils in Seoul: your questions answered.

Very visible nostrils are part of what people call a pig nose. Both are treated by lowering the tip.

Filler can lower the tip a little temporarily but cannot provide lasting support.

Which cartilage is used?

Septal cartilage first; rib cartilage for stronger lengthening.

Will my nose look long afterwards?

The tip is lowered only to a natural angle for your face.

How long is recovery?

About 7–10 days in Seoul, with the tip settling over months.
